Why Sunset Theater Is My Place in Westhampton
If someone asks me what movie theater to go to in the Hamptons, my answer is Sunset Theater in Westhampton Beach. I choose it because it gives me more than a movie. It gives me a place to arrive, relax, have a drink, enjoy the room, see people I like, and feel completely comfortable close to home.
Inga Is the Brand of Sunset Theater
Inga is one of the reasons I go to Sunset Theater in Westhampton Beach. Her thoughts, her tenacity, and her ambition are what create this experience. She brings creativity to the theater, removes monotony, and still keeps a consistent level of excellence in service, food, drinks, music, and atmosphere.
You feel her in the way the theater looks, the way the staff treats people, the way the second-floor lounge is used, the way the bar is run, and the way the experience keeps changing. Where do you find a movie theater that brings in food collaborations, lobster rolls, oysters, special events, creative cocktails, music, and different chefs’ ideas? That is what makes Sunset Theater special to me. It is not just programming movies. It is programming an experience.
Every time I go, there is a feeling that something new may be happening. The movie may be the reason you bought the ticket, but Inga has created many other reasons to show up. The candy, the popcorn, the food, the cocktails, the music, the lounge, the people, and the mood of the room all matter.
That is very close to how I think about Thompson Ferrier. A brand becomes meaningful when someone is personally driving the details, the feeling, and the standard. Inga gives Sunset Theater that direction. She is the reason the place feels alive.
My Second Living Room in Westhampton Beach
Sunset Theater feels like my second living room in Westhampton Beach. When I walk in, I feel plush, welcomed, comfortable, and special. I love the Art Deco influence, the rich red velvet, the beautiful lighting, and the old-Hollywood feeling that makes this more than a movie theater. It feels like a real theater experience in the Hamptons.
The concession stand feels part of the experience. The popcorn tastes gourmet, and so does the candy selection. The staff greets you in a way that feels like they are welcoming you into a familiar place, almost as if you are coming home.
When I walk into the theater itself, the seats feel like first-class airline seats: leather, plush, reclining, generous in size, with large armrests and a one-of-a-kind level of comfort. The room is immaculately clean. The sound is crisp and full, the way you expect from a serious movie theater with a proper sound system. The red velvet walls, the leather reclining seats, the lighting, and the sound all work together to make the room feel warm, luxurious, and complete.
This is very close to how I think about Thompson Ferrier. The customer should feel the care before anything is explained. The room, the object, the finish, the fragrance, and the service should all tell the same story.
A Movie Theater, Lounge, Bar, and Night Out Under One Roof
Sunset Theater in Westhampton Beach gives you a full night out in one place. You can come for the movie, but the experience begins before the film and can continue after it. The upstairs lounge, the bar, the cocktails, the food, the outdoor terrace, the popcorn, the candy, and the theater all live together inside one building.
That is what I love about it. You can arrive early, sit upstairs in the lounge, have a handcrafted cocktail, enjoy the room, walk into the theater, and then come back to the bar if you want the evening to continue. It feels like a movie theater with food and drinks, but with the comfort and personality of a private club.
This is very close to how I think about Thompson Ferrier. A candle is architecture, fragrance, ritual, and emotion together. It is the vessel, the bouquet of fragrance, the way it changes the room, and the feeling it creates when it becomes part of your evening. Sunset Theater creates that same kind of experience: one place, many moments, all connected.
The Bar, Cocktails, and Music Make Sunset Theater a Place to Stay
The bar at Sunset Theater in Westhampton Beach is one of the reasons the theater becomes more than a movie theater. The cocktails are part of the experience, and the bartender collaborations that Inga creates give people another reason to come upstairs, sit in the lounge, and enjoy the room before or after the movie.
There are nights when the creative cocktails, the music, the lounge, and the people become the reason to be there. Inga brings curiosity into the space through the drinks, the live music, the food events, and the way the second-floor lounge continues to change. It gives Sunset Theater the feeling of a movie theater with a bar, but also a place where you can spend the evening with friends.
The combination of cocktails, music, live events, velvet, lighting, and conversation gives Sunset Theater an atmosphere that feels sophisticated without feeling stiff. It reminds me of what we try to create at Thompson Ferrier: a sensory experience where fragrance, vessel, design, and atmosphere all work together without anything feeling forced.
A Place for Two Different Audiences
What I find very interesting is that Inga has created a place that works for two different audiences. There is one audience that comes earlier, has a drink, watches a movie, enjoys the space, and goes home. They are a little more mature, and they appreciate the comfort, the service, the bar, and the ease of the experience.
Then there is a younger audience that comes later and enjoys the second-floor lounge, the music, the cocktails, the food, and the social energy of the room. The impressive part is that Sunset Theater can serve both groups without losing its identity. It does not become rowdy. It does not become ordinary. It stays close to home, but still feels special.
Visit the Heart of Thompson Ferrier
That is why Sunset Theater belongs in the Thompson Ferrier Hamptons Journal. It is a local place with taste, comfort, creativity, service, and a point of view. For me, that is what makes it the movie theater to go to in the Hamptons.
